Mammography Suite Tour - Brightshores, Owen Sound

Bernie’s Boat was invited, along with other supporters, to the Brightshores Owen Sound Hospital to tour the newly renovated Mammography suite, and the new equipment!

Tomosynthesis (3D mammography) differs from standard 2D mammography because it takes multiple X-ray images from different angles to create a detailed, layer-by-layer 3D image, whereas 2D mammography captures a single, flattened image. This 3D approach improves cancer detection, particularly in dense breast tissue, by reducing the appearance of overlapping structures and lowering the rate of false-positive recalls.
